Position Overview

M&G Millwrights LLC is seeking a certified Fabrication Estimator to join our growing team. This role primarily focuses on assisting with the smooth execution of upcoming and ongoing projects while providing pricing and facilitating procurement. This position is the company’s central controller in the procurement of various materials, components, and hardware.


Key Responsibilities

  • Sources and obtains price quotations from catalogs and suppliers for all materials.
  • Helps manage all project files, invoices, POs, supplier acknowledgements, and other related communications for procurement.
  • Develop estimates for potential scope of work changes and bid to construction reviews
  • Develops and maintains a production schedule for all projects. Monitoring the flow and execution for all active projects.
  • Responsible to generate accurate quantity take-offs from project drawings, specifications, BOMs, etc.
  • Prepares and issues all purchase orders, countersigned by President or Operations Manager, from BOMs issued by Chief Engineer.
  • Reviews and clears payment for any supplier(s) invoices for submission to the Financial Controller.
  • Maintains inquiry logs and providing follow-up details in conjunction with both the Sales Manager and Operations Manager.
  • Establishes delivery schedules, checking-in with progress and contacting suppliers to resolve problems. This includes communicating and building relationships with vendors to ensure expected deliveries are within specific timeframes.
  • Can develop or can display comprehensive knowledge of general steel fabrication practices.
  • Maintains the database register for material procurement and create price book where possible.
  • Organizes and holds weekly production meetings – issuing weekly production sheets.
  • Understands and can operates software packages AutoCAD, Microsoft Project and CRM (Project) databases to assist in costing of Bid tender documents and Project work packages (preferred, can be trained)

Qualifications

  • Two or more years of experience in Custom Metal Fabrication.
  • Minimum education level: High School/GED
  • College education is preferred, but expertise in the industry is prioritized
  • Strong mathematical skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Fluency in English
  • Advanced computer literacy, with the willingness to learn software to complete tasks
  • Can communicate well with vendors and possibly negotiate contract terms and conditions for material procurement
  • Ability to forecast and solve problems
  • Knowledge of fabrication to make informed estimates based on the information provided
  • Understands Material Requirements Planning (MRP); experience with Infor Visual (MRP) is preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) — capable of creating tools such as spreadsheets and Word documents to enhance production processes
  • Knowledge of Project Management software, e.g., Microsoft Projects
  • Experience with drafting software e.g., Solidworks or AutoCAD is preferred
